Motability

Motability was setup in 1978 in order to make a new car easier and more affordable for people receiving the Higher Rate Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement. Motability works on the principle of "No waiting lists. No credit checks. No assessments required." There are two different options available on the Motability scheme; either Contract Hire or Hire Purchase. 95% of Motability customers choose Contract Hire which gives you a new car every 3 years, insurance, personal accident cover, servicing and maintenance, RAC breakdown assistance, free replacement tyres from Kwik-Fit and window or windscreen replacement at no extra cost.

At the end of the 3 year contract period there is a seamless transfer to your new car. There are over 3,000 Motability cars to choose from!

Hire purchase gives you the option of buying your own car. You negotiate the purchase price with your Motability dealer and you are responsible for organising payment, insurance, breakdown recovery, tax, servicing and maintenance. If you choose Hire Purchase you are normally expected to receive the allowance for the full length of the agreement.
